This site is devoted to the genealogy of the Kolojeski and Kolodziejski family. At least 7 Kolodziejski's from Przeradowo and nearby towns in Poland (north of Warsaw) arrived in Shenandoah, PA and Scranton, PA between 1899 and 1907.

Antoni & Laura Kolodziejski

The picture shown (from about 1911) is Antoni Kolodziejski and Wladislawa (Laura Bielski) at the christening of their son Walter Edward (known as Villa) (with son Anthony in the sailor suit) Kolodzieski in St. Mary's R.C. Church of Greenwood in Scranton, PA.  (Anthony is the great-grandfather of the author of this web site.)

There are eight known versions of the family name: the original Kolodziejski, the phonetic and Americanized Kolojeski, Kolodzieski, Kolojeskie, Kalteski, Kajeski, Kull, and Cole.

Many of the Kolodziejski's from the Przeradowo area are children of Peter (Piotr) Kolodziejski (who died about 1906) and Catherine (Katarzyna) Osowiecki (who died about 1924).  At least two are children of Jozef Kolodziejski and Elzbieta Siemborski.  One was a descendant of Ignacy Kolodziejski and Joanna Pidal.  (It is suspected that Piotr, Jozef, and Ignacy were brothers.)  Piotr and Katarzyna are known to have been in Shenandoah, PA from at least 1899 and were members of the St. Stanislaus R.C. Church at the corner of Cherry and West Streets in Shenandoah, PA.

The following pictures were taken about 1906.  Peter Kolodziejski died in a mining accident and then not much later his son (believed to be named John) also died in a mining accident.  Peter's widow Catherine is shown in both along with their children.  (Click on the images for larger photos.)
